I just got the game, and it looks nice, but I have some issues.

- I die all the time even with 3 henchmen. What is wrong? I have completed some small quests, but others looks tough.
- There are invisible walls everywhere. Eg. I cant jump down from a cliff, but I need to walk around some preset path. How do I know where are all the paths? Its not fun constantly bump into boundaries. This made me nervous at The Breach, where there is a bridge, but I cant get down, because of inviwalls all around. When I go over the bridge, there is no way to proceed, but looks like if I get down to the river, I could proceed there, but no, I cant get down.
- How do I tell, where there are shops? In towns there are only some random people, of which many are players and some are guards or merchants etc. I need to check every person, because they do not have big signs screaming "Weapons" or "Armor".
- Is there a setting to make the point of view to turn automatically looking from behind my character, when my character turns? Now if I click on the ground near the bottom of the screen, my character turns alright, but I cannot walk further, until I manually turn the point of view looking from behind the character. Also while fighting, my character turns, but the point of view does not, which makes me not see the monster anymore until I turn manually too.
- What would be a good way to start equipping my character? The armor mending system looks quite complicated. I need some minerals from somewhere, then I dont know where is a mender and so on.
- Is it worth to buy skills, they look expensive.

-which game?
-you can't jump at all
-NPC's who sell armor have [armor] behind their name.
-you could use X to run back, but why would you want that? It's a lot better to keep your view of the battlefield when you're running away
-you can buy crafting materials at guys with [materials] behind their name, and rare materials at guys with [rare materials] behind their name.
-Yes, it is worth it.

1) What level are you? You may be too low a level for the area. Also, be sure to upgrade your armour. Also, make sure you bring the monk henchman - healers are crucial in team situations.

2) Duh, it's realism. I hardly think you'd be able to jump down a cliff or off a bridge and survive, especially in heavy mail. Usually, the paths are pretty obvious... try searching around a bit more. I believe in the Breach, you have to go down through some ruins to get to the river under the bridge.

3) When in town, walk around holding the 'Alt' button - it highlights all NPCs. Weaponsmiths have [Crafter] or [Weaponsmith] after their name, armoursmiths have [Armor]. The bit in brackets tells you what that merchant does/sells.

4) Probably... you'd have to check the game iptions (hit the F11 button).

5) You don't need to mend armour in GW. You craft a set, and it's good for ever. However, the materials needed for crafting can be bought - from other players, or the material/reare material traders in town - or can be salvaged, from weapons and the like. IMO, the best way to start equipping is get some decent armour first.

6) In Prophecies, there's some skils you must buy, but many come from skill quests.

Also, if you need any other advice... try pressing F10 - it brings up the official wiki help thing.

Welcome to GW, it can be quite challenging for new players.

You may not have a high enough level for where you are. If the enemies you're facing are 3 or 4 levels above you, you may be in over your head. Also, your team composition may be off. With 4-person parties, ususally a Warrior, Monk, and Elementalist, + whatever should be included. Also, be sure to upgrade your armor. There's 2 Armor crafters in Ascalon City that can do it for you.

GENERALLY, you should see the path on the ground in front of you, it'll be slightly different in color & texture of the ground. You can't go through things, up or down steep terrain.

No, they're not big signs, they're the tags at the end of their names. The main shop is the [merchant]. Only major towns have all of the vendors available. Outposts normally only have merchants & storage.

I've never looked for one! I just use my mouse and keep my camera view scrolled out (using mouse wheel) so I'm not playing in first-person view.

Armor isn't too hard to come by, see the armoror in Ascalon City to see what materials you need. You can get the crafting materials by salvaging items you get from enemy drops. Armor from enemies is a great source for materials. Also, keep a look out for dropped weapons that have better stats than the one(s) you're already using.

Not yet! There are many, many quests that you can do that give skills as rewards. It would be a waste of gold & skill points to buy skills you could get for free.

If you've got any other questions or need some help, just PM me in-game. You can add me to your friends list (press N). My IGN is Ahndia Beppu.

try holding down the LEFT ALT key when in towns...that will bring out the names of the NPCs

Also use the Mission Map when you are exploring.. press U on the keyboard and size the map to your desires.

You can get materials one of 3 ways
Buy a salvage/exper salvage kit to use on items you find
Buy them From Material/Rare Material Trader
Buy them from Players

www.guildwiki.org is a great site and has a great new player guide. As well as info on various other things. It would help if you could tell us what Chapter you are playing Guild Wars (called prophecies by most) Guild Wars: FActions or Guild Wars:Nightfall.

Make sure a healer is one of those henchies. If you are dying, make sure to take as many henchmen as possible. i.e. If you are allowed 6, take 6. Also, learn to "pull", and run. If you see a large group of enemies, flag your henchmen somewhere far back from them, then go shoot one, and run back to your henchies. If you do it right, just a few monsters (not all of them) will follow you, away from the herd. This makes it easier to kill them a few at a time instead of getting overwhelmed. You'll need this skill throughout the game.

Also, make sure that you are putting your skill points into the appropriate skills, and bringing alons skills that are appropriate to what you are doing.

You are an FPS game player, aren't you? First, learn to click where you want to go, and let your player figure out how to get there. The WASD are fine for moving in small increments, but generally speaking you can click and go. Also, learn to use the Tab key to target things, whether they be enemies or people. Press tab until you see the enemy you want to attack, and then press the space key, and off you go. If you want to follow an NPC, target them, and press space. No nav keys neccessary.

Learn to use the ALT and CTRL keys. When you enter a new town, the first thing you should do is press ALT and look around for green words. You'll find everyone that matters. There is a distance limit, so in large town, you'll need to walk around with ALT held down. Holding down CTRL will show you the names of all the people, and in the wild, it will show you where the monsters are. These keys are your best friends. Try holding down CTRL and clicking things like your experience bar or health bar.

No. Right click and drag, and get used to it For what it is worth, you don't really need to see what you are attacking. In a fight, looking at the monster isn't going to help you. Look at the mini-map to see what other monsters are around you, and if you are in a group, if anyone is drawing lines to show you where to go or attack. Also, watch your message screen, to see if someone is suggesting a plan of attack. Watch your Party screen to see if a "T" shows up, which means someone is targeting a certain monster. Click on the T to target the same monster. Honestly, if you are looking at the monster in front of you, no wonder your dying fast - you need keep your eye on the battlefield, not the battle.

Don't sweat it so much. The best way to equip your characters is to find collectors selling the items you want, and then hunt down those items to get the best armor you can. Note that armor in GW is not like armor in other games. Each peice covers once part of your body, it does not give a total AC rating. As for weapons, again, the best ones are either found from enemies or collectors.

Yes and no. If you are still new - no. Do as many quests as you can. Quests will "give away" skills for free. GW does a good job of giving you the skills you need as you need them. Later on when cash isn't so tight, paying 1p for a skill isn't so bad, but for now you'll be wasting your money.

Finally, you didn't ask, but the best resource is the wikis. Check 'em out, they are just chock full of goodies. The unofficial wiki is more complete than the official one for now. I won't start a mission without reading the wiki FIRST. It will tell you what henchies to bring, what skills to equip, where to put your skill points, etc.

Are you using just your mouse to move your character? Try the arrow buttons on your keyboard, you can turn, move forward and backwards. You can both run and turn at the same time. If you are trying to get to someone you can either double click on them or highlight their names and tap your space bar to run to them...works great in town when you locate the armor or storage.

First: Welcome to GuildWars!

It sounds like you are already in post-searing. A little late, but pre-searing is meant to be the place to learn the game controls and how to use them. You might want to visit GuildWiki and read the section for new players. You could also find a guild that welcomes new players, and has more experienced members that could help you.

Take your time, and have fun!

Thanks for the answers. I made it through The Breach, though in a another quest. I'll try some more. I think its handy to make henchmen wait until I pull monsters, I try that too.

I like to move around by right clicking and left clicking. When I right click, it rotates the view and when I also left click, it moves where I want to go. This is fine for me, but I loose the track when the character turns to hit a monster while the point of view does not turn. I think it would be a good option to have both turn in sync like while moving normally with mouse. Sure I also move by double clicking monsters or npcs, but also then it would be nice to have the point of view in sync.
